CONSULTATIONS
A consultation is a great way for both the designer and client to decide if working together is the best fit. It's important for the designer to understand the client's needs and design style to ensure a successful relationship.
During the consultation, we'll discuss a wide range of topics, including:
-
General information about the project
-
Scope of work to be completed
-
Timeline requirements
-
Client's style
-
Client's likes and dislikes
-
Any changes to be made
-
Other pertinent information
We'll also walk through your space and take plenty of notes and pictures (with your permission). This will help me to get a better understanding of your space and how I can best help you achieve your design goals.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY DECORATING CONSULT?
1.PLAN YOUR TIME
-
Clear your schedule for two hours, as larger consultations may take longer.
-
All homeowners or decision-makers should be present.
-
Be prepared for the consultation to be broken into five sections:
-
Introductions: Getting to know you and the interior decorator
-
Contact: Gathering general information
-
Project: Discussing the scope of work, rooms to be incorporated, and purpose of each room
-
Design: Discussing your vision, design style, formality, colors, patterns, and sourcing preferences
-
Space: Walking through the space and taking pictures and measurements
-
2. MAKE A LIST
-
Write down what you like and dislike about your space, as well as any changes you would like to make.
-
If you have ideas for specific items you would like to incorporate, write them down as well.
-
Prepare a list of questions for the interior decorator.
-
If you are working on an addition, renovation, or new build, bring a copy of your floor plans and the contact information for your contractor or architect.
3. GET INSPIRED
-
Create a Pinterest board or Houzz profile and save inspiration images.
-
Tear through magazines and mark your favorites.
-
This will help you to identify your design style and give your interior decorator a better understanding of your vision.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE DECORATING CONSULT?
After your consultation, you'll receive a Welcome Guide with information about Sojourn Haus Design, what to expect working with a decorator, your proposals, our agreement, and other pertinent information. If you decide to hire us, you'll pay the retainer, sign the agreement, and send it back. Once we receive that, we'll start working with you to create the design of your dreams.
